The Family Dairy

So yesterday I went and visited the Paper Garden in Sacramento where they had a free make and take between 11:30 and 1:30, it happens every first Tuesday, second Saturday and Last Friday of the month at the same time, check out Stephanie's newsletter for more info. Also look at her class schedule she offers some great classes and she has the best stamps and ideas in her store. The Paper Garden was the first stamp store that I ever stepped foot in, it was sooo exciting yet overwhelming at the same time there was soooo much and I just wanted to make thank you cards for my birthday, but lol that's not all I came home with, i got a bunch of other ideas and started buying more stamps and soon I was addicted, Thanks Stephanie it's a good addiction lol. Anyways so when I was in there yesterday talking to Stephanie she commented on the fact that she had looked at my blog that morning and liked my craft space and how organized it was, lol, it was organized for the picture, lol I had just set it all up and I hadn't really used the area to craft on, so I'll later have to show you a picture of a messy craft space, one that's been used and not yet picked up.

She also commented on the picture behind my blog header, the one of the farm. Now that is an actual picture of my parents dairy, before we bought it and started remodeling it, so I thought I would share some picture of the old dairy and the new remodels. I hope you guys enjoy. The idea behind the pictures was that I was going to make a remodeling scrapbook, and I made like the first 3 pages and then the pictures became overwhelming because there were so many, I couldn't help snapping away at every step in the remodel process and then I just didn't know how to organize my scrapbook without using all the pictures that I had taken. Any suggestions??? Another thing is that I've lived on this dairy and this same land since I was little, I only have one memory of the dairy that we lived on that was literally down the street like 500 feet, so I've lived in the same general area since I was born.

This is a photo taken in the 90's when my parents first started the dairy.
This is also a photo in the 90's when my parents first put the milking tank (where all the milk is kept before going to the factory) into the milking barn.
Before the new construction, it was just open land with an area for eating and an old barn.
The land was cleared.
The new barn was built.
The old barn fell down and the new barn was done and ready for the cows to move in.

These are in individual free stalls or beds that each cow rests in within the barn.
This is the pressure washer system that cleans the allyes within the barn.

Another before of the other side of the dairy where the younger cows are.
This is where the cows were pasturing temporarily as their new home was being built.
The land was cleared and made level so that the new pens could be built.
The new pens were built and the cows were moved back in.


And that's pretty much it. And as we go things are continuously built and fixed. Just last month we got another smaller barn put in and we will probably build another big barn where the younger cows are, it was all built so that in the future a barn could just be built over it without needing to do anything else.

Baby Polka Dots

Along with the theme of baby I made one pink and one blue card. They can be for a baby or for any occasion, just change up the sentiment. I got this design from my favorite stamper, she got me hooked, Jillian Winters, absolutely love love love her work, she's an awesome stamper and just a great friend all together. Enjoy!!!

A Dozen & One Roses

So today I let in my roommates boyfriend into our house to bring her a surprise. He is such a sweet heart he brought her a dozen and one roses, I'm not sure why the extra rose but I'm sure it had some significant reason in their relationship if not a romantic reason. I figured I would make a card to go with the idea behind the roses (using Pocket Silhouette) and I also took a picture of the roses.

A New Baby!!!

One of my cousins just had a baby girl on the 3rd so I decided to make a baby card. I made one for a boy and one for a girl, I could also make a green one and a yellow one as a unisex, incase it's for a baby shower and the mom doesn't want to know the baby's sex. Enjoy!!

Congrats Debbie and Jeremy on the new addition to the family!!!

Simple One Layer SU Upsy Daisy Cards

SU Upsy Daisy Birthday

It has been quite a while, my last post was a few days before school started. Quite a while ago, but here I am with a Birthday card that I made for my mom, which is October 5th this Sunday so I thought I would make her something with the new SU Upsy Daisy Set. I tried to cards before deciding the second one was the one.

Here is the first, very simple.

And here it is after adding some Spica clear glitter to the Daisy's, really lifts it up (can't really see with the picture but it pops now) ;-)





And lets not forget the matching envelope!!


What do you think?? I hope to do some more posts, I've been overwhelmed with readings and I'm almost caught up so hopefully I'll be able to squeeze in some time for stampin, since I have a lot of b-days coming up at the end of the month and Halloween and before we know it is Christmas...EKK!!!! Hopefully I start my Christmas cards now and don't do them last minute, my worst fear is not getting them out, knock on wood. See ya later

My Stamping Zone/Storage

Here is a look at my stamping zone and how I store all my goods.

These storage cubes are from Michael's, they contain my paper, ink, punches, embossing folders, embossing glitter, flock, martha glitter, stickles and a lot more. The pink boxes underneath the craft disk are the Martha Stewart craft boxes from Michael's and they contain most my finished cards.

These 12x12 plastic drawers were purchase at Joann's and they contain all of my stamps, which I try to keep organized by theme, but we all know once we get to stamping everything becomes a mess.

This smaller plastic drawer container contains all of my copics, marvy markers, prisma colored pencils and my gel roll Sakura pens. I purchased it at Big Lots, I thought I got a really good deal on it, it was on $3.

A lot of crafters have done this and I thought it was a great idea so I went to Ikea and purchased a towel rack and placed some of my punches on it. Great storage idea!! My ribbon is on a dowel and I believe is a towel hanger, it a "C" shaped wall mount which is the right size for the ribbon, purchased at Home Depot.

This shelf is also from Ikea, and I thought is was just perfect for my jars of flowers.

This idea I got from Jillian Winters, another great storage idea! Empty CD cases with my nestabilities and my clear stamps in them.

The table part of my craft desk was again a purchase from Ikea, $7 for a piece of white wood that amazingly fit just perfectly with my storage cubes, I was so excited, I didn't have to do any cutting to make it fit just right. And of coarse I have covered it with scratch paper so that I don't stamp all over it.

And lastly a colored picture of my craft zone.

Fresh Cut

Its been a while

Feels like forever since I last made a card, but I'm back in the game. I was taking summer school out of town so I was at my parents house for more than 6 weeks and I moved from apartment to apartment so my room isn't quite set up yet but I had to get started on my card making. My birthday was on July 27th so I had to make some thank you cards, this strawberry basket being one of them. I saw this card on a blog called Outside The Lines by Linsey Rickett and I had to make it for my neighbor who knows that I absolutely love love love strawberry's and all summer long she brought my family and I strawberry's and then on my birthday she brought me some more even though they were already starting the be out of season but they were still delicious, so i thought this card would be appropriate for thanking her for her sweet gift.
